Email forwarding is useful when messages sent to one address must also arrive in another mailbox.

  1. Log in to DirectAdmin.
  2. Select the domain where the forwarding rule will work.
  3. Open E-mail Manager and choose Forwarders.
  4. Click Create E-mail Forwarder.
  5. Enter the source address and the destination address.
  6. Save the rule and send a test message.

If the source mailbox exists, it can keep its own copy of messages while forwarding a copy to the destination address. If mail does not arrive, check spam filtering, DNS/MX records and whether the mailbox exists on the correct hosting account.

What to check after following this guide

After changing settings, make sure the result works not only in the control panel but also for real website visitors or mailbox users. Test without browser cache and avoid changing many settings at once unless you know exactly what each change does.

For domains, check which DNS records are visible from outside. If records were changed recently, some networks may still use the old values until DNS propagation is complete.

  • check the name servers at the registrar;
  • verify A, MX, TXT, CNAME or other required records;
  • wait for DNS propagation if the change was recent.
