To use Google mail for a domain, replace the current MX records with Google MX records in the DNS zone.

  1. Open DNS or MX records management for the domain.
  2. Remove old MX records if they are no longer needed.
  3. Add Google MX records with the priorities recommended by Google.
  4. Disable local mail handling if mail should not be processed by the hosting server.
  5. Save the changes and wait for DNS propagation.

After changing MX records, test incoming mail and make sure SPF, DKIM and DMARC are configured according to Google Workspace instructions.

What to check after following this guide

After changing settings, make sure the result works not only in the control panel but also for real website visitors or mailbox users. Test without browser cache and avoid changing many settings at once unless you know exactly what each change does.

For domains, check which DNS records are visible from outside. If records were changed recently, some networks may still use the old values until DNS propagation is complete.

  • check the name servers at the registrar;
  • verify A, MX, TXT, CNAME or other required records;
  • wait for DNS propagation if the change was recent.
